Jenny Gusse and Doug Inglis Obituary Sundre, Alberta: In loving memory of couple killed in bear attack in Banff National Park.

Two people who were killed by a grizzly bear on Friday night in Banff National Park, west of Sundre, Alberta have been identified as Jenny Gusse and Doug Inglis, both 62 years old.

According to a relative of one of the deceased, the deceased were common-law partners. Also killed in the tragic incident was the couple’s dog, which was present at the time.

According to Natalie Fay, external relations manager for the Banff field unit, Parks Canada got a GPS warning at around 8 p.m. on Friday reporting a bear attack in the Red Deer River Valley west of Ya Ha Tinda Ranch.

A team with specialized training in dealing with wildlife attacks was promptly recruited, according to a statement from Fay, however the weather delayed their response.

According to Fay, the reaction team came upon a grizzly bear in the region that was acting aggressively. Parks Canada employees decided to kill the bear there and then to ensure the safety of the locals.

She claimed that RCMP took the victims to Sundre, Alberta, around 5 a.m.

“This is a tragic incident and Parks Canada wishes to express its sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims,” Fay said.
